Houston's full-time Islamic school landscape is unusually deep for an American city. Twelve schools across nine brands serve K–12 students from every major Muslim community in the metro, with four of them ranked in Niche's Top 100 best private high schools in the Houston area as of 2026 — Houston Quran Academy at #11, Iman Academy Southwest at #35, Darul Arqam Academy North at #47, and Al-Hadi at #64.

This guide is organized by school brand. For schools that operate multiple campuses, all locations are grouped under one section so families can pick the campus closest to where they live. Each card shows the neighborhood, grade range, student-to-teacher ratio, and address for that specific campus.

A note before the list: student-to-teacher ratios on this page reflect Niche's reporting, which is based on each school's own submission. Smaller numbers generally signal more individual attention but can also reflect smaller school size. They're a useful proxy, not a verdict.

Houston Quran Academy

Top 100 Niche ranking — #11. HQA is the highest-ranked Islamic full-time school in the Houston metro and one of the larger private high schools in the area, anchored by its flagship Katy campus. The Spring campus, opened more recently, has built its own community in North Houston with strong parent-admin communication and a similar curriculum.

The school invests heavily in extracurriculars: a competitive karate program, a strong basketball team, and a Future City Competition track that has placed Al-Hadi among the top-performing middle schools in the country for two decades, including the 2021 National Grand Prize and consistent top-five national finishes in the years since.

A few practical notes for relocating families

  • Tuition varies widely and isn't published consistently across schools. Plan to call admissions directly for current numbers, financial aid availability, and sibling discounts. Most schools have a financial aid track but quotas fill early in the cycle.
  • Admissions windows matter. Several of the larger schools (HQA, Iman, Darul Arqam, Everest, Al-Hadi) fill seats early in the spring for the following academic year. If you're relocating mid-year or planning ahead, contact the school as soon as possible — waitlists are real.
  • Application requirements differ. Some schools require entrance assessments (especially for upper grades), Quran-reading evaluations, or parent interviews. Build the application timeline into your move planning.

For families still narrowing where to live, our neighborhood guides cover schools alongside mosques, halal food, and home prices for each of our 10 covered areas. The full Islamic schools directory is at /directory/schools.
