Top Halal Steaks & Steakhouses in Houston
Houston's halal steak scene — fully halal restaurants leading with Butcher's Grille, plus high-end partial-halal options.
Halal status is based on each business's own representation and may change without notice. We do not independently verify halal claims and take no responsibility if a restaurant changes its sourcing or menu. Always verify directly with the restaurant before dining.
The halal steak scene in Houston has grown faster than most people realize. A decade ago, finding a great steak that you could eat with full confidence about its sourcing meant either a Brazilian churrascaria with a halal-aware kitchen or driving back from a chain steakhouse with a private-meal arrangement. Today, there's a real bench of fully halal options — dedicated steakhouses, restaurants where steak shares the menu with Persian or Mediterranean staples, and a flagship butcher-and-grill in the Galleria area that's redefined what's possible.
This guide is split into two sections: Full Halal Options, where the entire menu is halal and you can order anything without questions, and Partial Halal Options, where the restaurant isn't fully halal but Muslim diners can order specific halal cuts. The second section requires more diligence — call ahead, ask specifically about cross-contamination, and confirm the cut you want is actually halal that day.
Full Halal Options
The Butcher's Grille
The lead pick. A butcher-and-restaurant operation in the Galleria area on San Felipe — the same kitchen breaking down its own cuts is the kitchen searing them. Full menu is halal, steaks are the headline, and the format is as close to a traditional steakhouse as Houston's halal scene gets.
Steak Spot (inside Imperial Pho)
Steak Spot runs out of the Imperial Pho kitchen in Katy — sounds odd until you realize the steak is the draw. Call ahead to confirm hours since it operates adjacent to the Vietnamese side of the menu.
La Pasha Lounge & Grill
The Kirkwood location (Westchase area) serves a strong ribeye as part of a broader sit-down menu — fuller dining experience than a steak counter, with a lounge atmosphere.
Bonsai
Hibachi-style steak in multiple cuts (filet, ribeye, NY strip) at both the Sugar Land and Hwy 6 N locations. The live tableside cooking — chef carving filet, tossing shrimp, the onion volcano — is half the reason to go.
Mai Colachi
A ribeye on an otherwise-Pakistani menu in Sugar Land — a quiet option for when you've brought a guest along who isn't in the mood for karahi.
Sheesha Lounge & Grill
Sugar Land sit-down spot with steak on the menu alongside the broader hookah-lounge format.
Reza Persian Grill
A different angle on a high-end Persian dinner — steak alongside the Persian kebab and rice menu, on Hillcroft Avenue.
Moussa
Steak on the broader menu at this Westheimer spot near the Hillcroft corridor.
Cafe Adel
A less-talked-about Galleria-area pick on San Felipe with steak as part of its full menu.
Partial Halal Options
These are restaurants where the full menu isn't halal — alcohol is served, the kitchen handles non-halal proteins, the rest of the menu may not be — but Muslim diners can order specific halal options if they ask. Always verify with the restaurant before ordering: confirm the specific cut is halal that day, ask how cross-contamination is handled, and call ahead to be sure.
Tourão
The Brazilian churrascaria experience, 10+ halal meat cuts available all-you-can-eat, gauchos who slice everything tableside. Tourão's kitchen is familiar with the Muslim community and explicitly does not cross-contaminate halal cuts with non-halal. Both the Montrose flagship and the Katy location operate the same way. One of the more memorable halal meals in Houston.
Guard and Grace, Steak 48, Patagonia Legacy
Three high-end steakhouses that serve Creekstone beef — a halal-certified producer — but the restaurants themselves are not halal-only and the kitchens handle non-halal proteins as well. Verify the details for yourself before each visit: confirm the specific cut is halal that day, ask about cross-contamination, and don't assume the answer is the same across visits.
